Obesity can have catastrophic consequences and like any other addiction, a food addiction which is significant enough to cause your body to add layers and layers of body fat can have harmful repercussions in all areas of a person’s life, health, career and family.
Anyone else who has been called a fat bastard in their lifetime can most likely relate.
I was fortunate that when I was, I found a way out of the shame and guilt of being overweight and out of shape.
I was sunk in that quicksand for many years.
If I can help even one person get out of the pit of being fat, I would feel that all of my efforts to share the simple secrets of how to lose body fat have been worthwhile.
The recipe for losing weight is straightforward.
The ingredients are 1) Eat Real Food 2) Avoid Processed Food and 3) Start moving.
I have spent the majority of my life struggling to lose weight so I understand exactly what you are feeling: desperate to lose weight and feel better.
It is no picnic.

The Simple Secret to Dramatic Body Transformation
I have struggled with losing weight since I was a kid.
I felt worse inside.
I felt invisible despite my very visible fat.
One evening, despondent, while having a second blueberry muffin at midnight in a 24 hour deli off of 2nd avenue, I looked down at my 50 inch belly that was stretched beyond belief and yelled at myself to stop, that I have to find a way to lose this belly fat, I could not even see my feet or easily tie my shoes.
I just said to myself that I will try to only eat foods that most everybody agrees are healthy (hint: vegetables!) and I will start to move my body.
I went from 250lbs and a 50 inch waist to 175lbs and a 32 inch waist in six months.
I was as shocked as anyone else that saw my physical transformation.
I share my strategies how to lose body fat with anyone else out there who is struggling with being overweight and out of shape no matter what your age.

My name is Rich but people in my neighborhood call me Hashi Mashi.
The morning after my epiphany in the Deli to eat real food, I asked Chefs Abdulghani and Yassine to make my usual egg sandwich a bit different.
“Can you add vegetables please?”
“Okay Richie, what vegetable?”
“How about spinach and tomato….”
“Alright, no problem”
“…and mushroom, onion, pepper..”
“Whoa, what are you doing to me, that is a long list…”
“Sorry, you know what, can you also forget about the bread, and add hummus and olives and avocado..”
“What are you talking about, do you see eggs with vegetables, hummus and olives, and avocado on the menu? You must always have bread.”
“No, not this time, please no bread” I said, “so can you put in some more vegetables, spinach, tomato, onion, mushroom and olives with hummus and avocado on the side?”
“Avocado?! Who puts avocado with an omelette? A bagel yes, coffee, donut, but avocado? and olives? I have other customers, I am going to be too busy for all of this. Can’t you just have a normal breakfast? “
“Come on Chef, I will pay for the extra stuff….”
“Usually we just give you toast and eggs, that’s it. Now you want all of these vegetables. And hummus on the side? This is just an egg sandwich, an egg on two slices of bread, with a slice of tomato. You are making us all Hoshed up (pronounced Hosh like Nosh in my mimd), all mixed up! So what is this thing called so we know for next time?”
I did not know what hosh meant, but I did know that I was being a big pain in the neck changing the menu.
So in my best effort at diplomacy, I told them that I was really desperate to lose weight, and I wanted to try to have breakfast without the bread and if I did not have any bread, I was just going to add these vegetables to the meal. I told them that I am sorry that I made them all hoshed up, but that if his omelette meal helped me, then I will always give them credit for helping me to lose weight and more importantly to lose body fat.
“Fine, we will make this weird breakfast. What is it’s name so we know for next time and you don’t have to explain all of the details?”
“I will call this Hashi Mashi, let’s see what happens.”
“Hashi Mashi, okay brother, if it is any good, I will put it on the menu.”
Six months later I was down from a near 50 inch waist to a 32 inch waist.
Today, Hashi Mashi does not only refer to the initial vegetable egg omlette with humus, olives and avocado that I asked Chefs Abduhlghani and Yassine to prepare for me instead of the traditional egg sandwich.

People in my building noticed the physical changes and began calling me Hashi Mashi and before I knew it, there were other customers of Cafe Tudor asking for whatever Hashi Mashi was ordering cause I had lost so much weight.
Eventually Tudor Cafe put Hashi Mashi on their menu for breakfast and Hashi Mashi became somewhat of a greeting of mutual encouragement because they were inspiring me to keep going.
Many people want to know how to lose body fat. I was shocked that there was no big secret. The only thing that I had to do differently was to eat real food, stop eating processed food and start moving more, specifically walking, swimming and especially weight training, core weight lifting like doing deadlifts, squats, shoulder presses and pushups.
I began to blog about my experiences on hashimashi.com because I would like to be able to share with anyone else out there who has struggled to lose weight.
I know how frustrating it can be when we just do not seem to be able to lose the weight no matter how little we eat.
I also began to see many more resources on the web which can make the question of how to lose body fat a bit easier to answer and whenever I come across new tools and new information, I am going to share them with you.
What’s Unique About Hashi Mashi Besides the Name?
There are quite a few resources available online about how to lose body fat, get fitter, lose weight.
My goal is to stay focused on streamlining the process of how to lose body fat in a healthy and effective way, with the minimum effective dose possible.
I want to walk you through the entire process so you can focus on your nutrition and training, and less on where you need to find the information.
What’s unique about Hashi Mashi is that I have not only been in your shoes, but I still consider myself to be there.
I do not take my success in finally figuring out how to lose body fat and gain muscle for granted.
I am still very aware that without being conscious of my food choices, I could be back at where I started, way up there at 250, 280 pounds or even worse.
We all know how easy it is to put on the weight and usually how hard it is to take the weight off.
I consider myself a work in progress.
I am not trying to be perfect, I just want to be better than yesterday and keep improving.
I hope that I can provide you with information and resources how to lose body fat so you can know how to uncover your real body which is hidden under layers of fat.
