How to lose weight fast?
I am not going to keep it a secret from you during this article.
I will tell you right now up front, so if you have no time to read the rest of everything that you need to know how to lose weight fast, I am going to tell you right now.
I promise I will not tease you. Some people just don’t like that.
I will give you the basics right now and elaborate further on as to why you should listen to me, what makes me an expert in a field that I wish I had never heard about.
So, the magical answer is to eat real food. I know, we who struggle with weight, are so unaccustomed to real food, that when I tell someone who asks me “Hey, Hashi Mashi, how did you lose so much weight?”, and I tell him “Eat real food”, he looks at me as if he had just actually seen a UFO. Real food. What is real food? Now, this actually happened yesterday. I have told you how I myself, yes, how I myself in the span of only five months had put on over 25lbs. But to my friend, who had not seen me since over a year ago when I was at 245lbs, totally looking like an inverted pear, he still thought that I look unbelievable. So, the last time he had seen me, I was 245lbs and never exercised. Yesterday when he saw me, I was 192lbs, had been doing what I call Hashi Mashi for six days and over the last five months, I was still struggling to get some pushups and squats in here and there. Enough that when he saw me, he was still amazed.
So, my point is that I have way more experience than I ever wanted in the how to lose weight arena. For some reason, that has been a big part, a major part of my life from day one. I can analyze that later, but for now, let me tell you that my friend I saw yesterday is a Chef! Still, he looks puzzled as to what is real food. Simply, real food is at its most basic level, vegetables to start, legumes, fruits, nuts, all the foods that grow out of the earth and are ready to eat now!
If you want to lose weight fast, and in a sustained healthy way, in a way that you are not starving, when in fact you will be able to think more clearly, do the following:
When you wake up for breakfast, have a vegetable omelette, with alot of vegetables, spinach, tomato, onion, garlic, mushroom. If you do not like eggs, try a scrambled tofu substitute. If you are vegan, try something like oatmeal and a veggie burger. If I had to choose a grain, I would go with either oatmeal or quinoa. For sure though, I would want to get in as many vegetables as possible, even a vegetable soup.
With your vegetable omelette, have some hummus and avocado on the side. If you do not have hummus, or even if you do, I recommend to add some beans, like lentils, black beans or red beans to your plate as well. They are slow burning carbs and will keep you full and satisfied for a long time. The avocado will also give you a good dose of healthy mono unsaturated fats and you should feel energized throughout the day.
For a snack, and it is important not to get too hungry, have an apple, have some berries and a handful of almonds.
For lunch, you can have sautéed vegetables and tofu, tuna salad, a spinach salad with turkey and avocado, you have alot of choices, a black bean soup or a combination of any of those. This is not rocket science, but unfortunately for those of you who grew up like me, real food is a mystery. The real food that we are used to means having a muffin, bagel or donut in the morning. Now, we all know that the muffin and donut are not as ‘real’, growing from the ground, as spinach, but we are just accustomed to that as being a ‘normal’ breakfast.
So, I am here to tell you that if you want to look like a ‘normal’ person, without rolls of fat hanging down everywhere, then you really have to start eating the most real food possible.
And finally, in the evening, have some vegetables and little salmon, or chicken, or tofu, or veggie burger (my least favorite because it is pretty processed.) and call it a day. Fine, have a glass of red wine to be social and be part of the world with your friends and family. That will not hurt you at all.
Is it possible to lose a pound a day eating real food? Yes. Do you have to worry about how much you are losing? I say no. Your body is going to start changing and transforming from a puffy balloon processed junk food body to a leaner version of yourself. Even your face is going to look like a different person. Many people will not recognize you even after three months, especially after six months. They will tell you that you look twenty years younger. Isn’t that what you want? To be healthier, to look younger, to have more energy? The truth is that how to lose weight fast is not the most important issue here. The most important is how to keep and improve our health.
Here again is a list of real foods that you should target most:
Vegetables – all types, that you like, that are fresh or frozen. Personally, I love spinach, broccoli, tomato, onion, garlic, mushrooms.
Fruits – all types, but when you are trying to lose the most weight, limit the really sweet fruits like grapes, and concentrate more on berries, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries.
Legumes – Black beans, lentils, red beans, habichuelos rosados , I love those goya beans in the can, wish I knew how to make them myself, and one day will, but get some canned beans if you have to, they will keep you going without starving!
Nuts/Seeds – a few nuts here and there for snack, some almonds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, brazil nuts.
Protein – If you are vegetarian, have your vegetarian sources like veggie burgers, soy dogs, tofu. If not, then wild salmon, organic eggs, grass fed chicken, beef, and you do not need alot!
Water , tea or a dry red wine which has a low percentage of sugar to drink.
Please stop drinking sodas, any sodas, even diet sodas. If you are dying for a milk shake, make a protein shake.
And if you can control your urges to binge on junk food if you have bread or pizza or pasta once a week, then do it when you are with people! For a birthday or wedding or get together with friends or family. Stop eating cookies in secret. Stop hiding in your room with muffins and ice cream. keep none of that stuff in your home. Once a week, you have a reason to be social with family or friends, go for it, have fun, eat your junk food in public and get back on the bandwagon with the next meal.
Even without exercise, your body will start to change shape, but at the minimum, get out and walk a half hour every day to start. If you are able, start to do pushups and/or squats with no weight as well. I will speak about those at greater length in other posts, because the fact is, you will not need to do that much exercise. Have you seen a horse lifting weights to get that ripped look? No. Keep walking, lifting, moving, being human, eating human food, real food that grows, and your body will transform, guaranteed. My before and after pictures on the top of the site was after 175 days or so, just about six months. You can do it. I know you can because I did, and if anyone could not, or thought they could not, it was me!
I know you. You have tried everything. You have tried the raw food diet. You have tried macrobiotics. You have tried juicing. You have tried the cabbage soup diet. You have tried the water diet. You have counted calories, attended weight watcher meetings, stood on scales every day for the last x years of your life and what happened? The weight keeps going up, up and away. You feel out of control. Why can you not get the most personal thing about yourself, your body, your weight, under control?
I totally understand the feeling. I have battled with gaining and losing weight for decades. The first meal that I remember having as a baby was a weight watcher meal! Yes, the weight watcher pizza, an english muffin, a slice of american cheese, some ketchup and oregano sprinkled on top with a cup of orange juice. My parents went to more weight watcher meetings than we went to picnics or ballgames. Weight Watchers 100, Yankees 0. How to lose weight fast was the holy grail in my home ever since I could remember.
Give it a shot. Tell me, how many times have you tried to lose weight, get in shape, whether fast or slow, you just wanted to lose weight but could not? How many diets have you tried? How many books have you bought? I am telling you a path out of this crazy maze, and it is free! My kids poked fun at me for years, I had hundreds, yes, literally hundreds of books on diet and exercise, and was still fat. I was still fat until I started to eat real food and do some real weight bearing exercise.
