This morning I decided to try out a different schedule. Instead of going to the gym in the evening, I thought I would try it out in the morning. The main reason is that one of my New Year resolutions has to be finding a way to get to sleep earlier than the ungodly hours that I have done during this past year. So, I figured if I would go earlier in the day, then at night, I can wind things down a bit better. If I can stick with it, it will become a good positive habit I am sure.
One benefit I have seen from that is that the free weight area, basically the entire gym area has alot less traffic, so no waiting for a station to do squats, deadlifts or bench presses.
The other benefit is that I have my workout done already and it is only 1030am! I am going to do my best to stick to this schedule.
In terms of the workout today, I actually did not reach a new high, which is fine, but I maintained where I was on deadlifts, which is still a high of 175lb. However, I did begin my warm ups with a heavier than usual weight, 135lb, and did 5 sets of 1 repetition; 135lb, 145lb, 155lb, 165lb and 175lb.
In between each set, I did 20 reps of bicycle sit ups, you lay down on your back, extend your legs out straight, maybe 6 inches off of the floor, and then alternately bring in your left knee towards your chest and touch it with your right elbow, and then repeat the same with your right knee, bringing it in till you can touch it with your left elbow, so in total, I did 100 reps of these bicycle situps.
And today, in between deadlifts, I figured I would do some curls, starting with 30lbs in each hand, 5 reps, then 35lbs for 5 reps, back to 30lbs, another set with 30lbs and my last set was with 40lbs for 4 reps.
I think that today is a good day to start to plan out some new goals for the next six months. When do you get to the gym? Are there changes to your daily schedule, that if you made them, will improve the quality of your life?
