Today is the third day on my quest to finally get this last 25 pounds off of my gut. I wrote about this yesterday in whether it is possible or not to get six pack abs in six weeks. This last saturday evening I was 211.4 pounds, not too pretty and I would be the first to admit that I looked like sponge bob square face and no chin, so I was feeling desperate and decided to test out this program for myself and others if it works!
Here is what my meal plan looked like yesterday:
Breakfast: 1 whole egg and three whites scrambled together with a teaspoon of flax seed. I then put those scrambled eggs on top of a whole grain rye tortilla and topped it with raw spinach, tomato, onion and four slices of lean oven roasted turkey. That took about 5 to ten minutes max to make.
Snack: About a cup of red grapes and a handful of almonds.
Lunch: 1 can of white albacore tuna in water, mixed with 2 teaspoons of light mayo, put that on top of a whole grain rye tortilla and topped it with raw spinach, tomato, onion, olives and pickle. That also took about 5 to ten minutes to make.
Snack: Vegaone chocolate protein powder mixed in a cup of hemp milk with 2 teaspoons of peanut butter without sugar and a bunch of ice cubes.
Dinner: 2/3 cup of plain chick peas mixed with roasted spinach and garlic and 2 veggie burgers, the previous evening I had salmon.
Snack: 2 tablespoons of cottage cheese mixed with grapes and a 1/4 cup shelled dry roasted non salted peanuts.
And after all of that food yesterday, I still lost another pound so as of this morning after a 2 mile walk and run I was 202.1, down 9.3 pounds in 3 days. Yes, I know the majority of that is probably water, but I am not complaining.
What I have learned from this so far is that it makes alot more sense to come into dinner not starving than to starve most of the day and then come into dinner when most likely you or me or most people who have weight issues and/or depression are going to start to binge.
It makes alot of sense to eat breakfast, even if it is a quick smoothie made with a cup of 1% milk, or almond milk, or coconut milk or hemp milk, there are so many choices together with a banana or strawberry and peanut butter, a 1/4 cup of raw oats and your whey or vegan protein.
Since yesterday was somewhat of a full body workout with squats, deadlifts, pullups, pushups and curls, I decided to do a 2 mile cardio walk/run on the treadmill to break things up a bit. Yes, as I mentioned yesterday, I am trying the circuit idea of whole body workout moving fairly quickly from one exercise to the next.
What is the benefit to you? Well, if by July 4th I am down to 180lbs and 15% bodyfat from 211.4 and 26% and I can do this at 58 years old, just imagine what you can do, for sure if you are younger and for sure if you are the same age or older. The moral of the story is that we do not want to give up and we want to get fitter in body and mind one day at a time and that is how I am taking this, one day at a time.
Six weeks from now is going to come, so why not attempt to make the most aggressive, yet gentle transformation possible in that time frame.
Dont forget to drink water and eat your vegetables.
