Today's daily weigh has me at practically 15 pounds less than where I was just a month or so ago.
The progress has been good.
The lesson that I learned yesterday was that I believe that alcohol, even in the form of wine will slow weight loss down a bit, but I still plan to have my glass of wine at least on the weekend.
Yesterday again was a simple workout day.
Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday are for pushups.
I did not have a chance to get to the gym to do shoulder presses and that is okay.
In the meantime, I hit my high pushups in the last year and a half at 42 consecutive pushups.
The first 37 were really consecutive and the last five I needed a couple of breaks in the plank position to catch my breath.
I did a total of 42 pushups for set 1, 32 pushups for set 2, 22 pushups for set 3, 12 pushups for set 4 for a total of 108 pushups yesterday.
I also did 30 minutes on the elliptical since it was a sunday and I did not have a full hour available.
For food I kept it pretty simple as well:
A cup of oatmeal in the morning along with a few scrambled egg whites, tomato, pepper, onion and garlic.
A cup of brown rice and vegetables with some left over turkey.
A cup of quinoa and vegetables with baked chicken for dinner.
2 Large glasses of water mixed with a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, blackstrap molasses, honey and a quarter lemon.
I have not had many snack cravings since I started drinking the apple cider vinegar.
Come to think of it, I have not had fruits or nuts for the last week other than the grapes and berries that I put in my oatmeal and the walnuts.
In terms of strength training today, the entire squat workout of 5 sets and 5 repetitions and the deadlift workout of one set and five repetitions took 35 minutes.
For squats, I went up another 5 pounds in weight, from 90 pounds last week to 95 pounds today. I was able to do five sets of five repetitions with 95 pounds using approximately 2 to 3 minutes of rest between each set. The squats are getting more difficult as expected. Wednesday the plan is to go for 100 pounds in squats, but I am unsure if I will be able to do all five sets. We will see, but making progress on squats.
For deadlifts, I went up another 5 pounds from 140 pounds which I did last week to 145 pounds today. I did one set of four repetitions. I believe I need to do a bit of a better warmup before doing the deadlifts. Even though I am already fairly warmed up from the squats, I still feel that I need to do a couple of sets and reps using lighter weight. Today I went directly into doing the deadlift with 145 pounds and could only do four reps and not five. So, that is a good lesson to be sure to warm up and then go for it. I will try deadlifts again using 145 pounds on wednesday and shoot for one set of five reps but this time warming up first by deadlifting some lighter weights.
I definitely attribute my being able to lose 15 pounds over the last month because of the benefits of deadlifts, the benefits of squats and the benefits of pushups, besides the great benefits of walking 30 to 60 minutes every day.
I also include the amazing benefits of apple cider vinegar which I knew nothing about up until a month ago.
At least in terms of cutting sugar cravings, the addition of the apple cider vinegar, honey, lemon, blackstrap molasses drink two or three times a day has been extremely effective.
Believe me, I never imagined myself making such a concoction, but you have to try it yourself to see if it will help you too, and if it does, my prediction is that it will be very helpful for curbing your appetite for more food than you actually need.
