Still a Setback for Aldo, Can He Get Back on Track
Today is Tuesday and Aldo has had an even bigger setback. Apparently, he had chicken pox as a kid and now has the shingles. It is also in a dangerous position, near his eye. So, yesterday he was effectively tied up with visits to the hospital, dermatologist and opthomalogist. That also meant no walking and no other types of exercises. I know that when I started with him, I told him that he could keep eating bread. But, in light of his shingles, I am suggesting to him to cut out the bread altogether, because it is high in arginine. Shingles is known to replicate in a high arginine environment. So, I want him to increase his intake of lysine foods, such as grass fed beef, free range chicken and wild fish, and to decrease his intake of arginine, like wheat. I know he has been discouraged by this bout of shingles, but the good news is that it usually only happens once. So, if he can get through this phase, he will be okay. Thankfully, his eyes were not affected. As you probably know, 90% of the USA is frozen over, but I am still recommending to Aldo to get to the gym. He is not that far off track and by going for a traditional Hashi Mashi menu which excludes grains, I know that his progress will be really fast. I already had him do 6 sets of pushups today, seperated by one minute. He started with 1 last week and today he was able to do 5 for each set. Not too bad. He can see that his strength is increasing and today I want him to get to the gym, despite the weather and his shingles, get on the treadmill for 3miles and either do squats or deadlifts.
Will he be able to get back on track? How many years have you been trying to lose weight? Or how many years have you kept it off? I know it is not so easy after a lifetime of bad habits, but I hope that he can stay the course. Do you have any advice for Aldo? Thanks!
