How to Stop Depression – Step 1 – Realize the Power of Words
You are depressed.
You want out but you have no clue how to get out.
Who holds the key?
You, medications, someone that you are thinking about?
You might have been depressed for a week or a decade, this step will apply no matter how long you have been languishing in your depression.
The first step to stop your descent into deeper depression is to stop the downward motion.
How do you do that?
You have to come up with a word, a sentence, a phrase, something that will shock you out of your blues and at least help you to stop going deeper and deeper into your depression.
How can a word help you stop you from sinking deeper into your depression?
Words have power.
The words that you think to yourself all day have power.
In fact, my bet is that a good part of the day you are thinking right now of words in your mind which are bringing you down. You might be telling yourself that you suck, that you are a failure, that you are not good, for whatever reasons you have in your mind.
So just as the words that you have been using in your mind helps you to reinforce your depression, so too can words in your mind or that you say out loud help you to stop your depression.
The first step therefore is to realize the great power that words have on you and others.
Words matter.
The words that you use with yourself and with others can have a lasting impact for both the good and the bad, so make your words count for the good.
Once you realize how powerful words can be, you want to find a word that will help to startle you out of your current depression.
How to Stop Depression – Step 2 – Zehhu, A Word with Power
For many years I had nightmares and insomnia due to the nightmares.
The dreams were usually about things associated with my depression and the common thread that ran thru the dreams is that I could not express myself.
One particular dream that recurred for years had me unable to express my words to those most important to me and suddenly I would be in an elevator which did not go up or down and when the elevator man who looked like me from the back turned around to assumedly ask me what floor I wanted to go to, he had no mouth.
I woke up screaming from that nightmare for many years.
One time though something happened that was different.
When I woke up I was not just screaming incoherently like frankenstein when he realized that he was on fire.
I was shouting out at the top of my ability the word Zehhu and even though it is not an english word, I knew exactly what it meant.
I was screaming Zehhu with as much intensity as I had ever said anything in my life.
I knew that Zehhu meant “enough, that is it, no more, I am done et. al” or any other word in english that means I have had enough and I refuse to keep descending into deeper and deeper depression.
Is it possible that a word can have that much power?
I say yes, you will have to try it out for yourself, but when you have a moment, just sit alone quietly and if you are in a field or a padded room and want to scream, go ahead, just be careful that nobody can hear you and think that you have really lost your mind.
Scream Zehhu or say it out loud or think it strongly or choose whatever other word is meaningful to you.
Zehhu is a word with power for me because that day when I woke up from that nightmare, after many years of not being able to express anything, I finally had my voice, I had my voice and it was telling me to stop the descent into deeper depression.
Zehhu can have that same power for you.
The power of the word Zehhu is that it can help you to stop your descent into deeper depression.
If you think that you read this far to learn how to stop depression and all you did is get a strange word or idea called Zehhu, that is not accurate.
I believe that you can stop your depression from totally drowning you if you use the right word to shock your system into believing that you have had enough and that you deserve better.
I am not saying that merely the word Zehhu will cure you of depression, I am saying that Zehhu or another word that you have invested with power will help you to stop sinking into an even deeper depression than where you are right now.
Once you have stopped sinking, you can then start to work on getting out of your depression and getting fit in both mind and body which is what Hashi Mashi is all about.
How to Stop Depression and Start Living – Step 3 – Post Zehhu, Getting a Fit Mind and Body
Just knowing how to stop depression is not enough.
You have to know how to get out of your depression, or even if you cannot totally get out of your depression, you have to know how to manage your depression effectively.
The first key though is to stop your depression by saying Zehhu.
Once you know how to stop depression with a word of power like Zehhu, then you are ready to start crossing the bridge from depression to life.
I say depression to life because anyone who has been steeped in depression will know that depression is not life.
Depression is about as close as you can come to no life as no life, which is one of the reasons that depression is the biggest risk factor for suicide.
It is a shame, so sad, that so many of us spend many days of our lives in depression when we can be spending that time celebrating our lives with ourselves, our family and our friends.
Instead of seeing everything that is good in our lives, we are tuned into only the channel in our head that reports all of the tragedies of the day.
Once you know how to stop depression, you want to start living.
There are many paths to start living but I am happy to share what I have found on the path that I call HashiMashi.
Simply said, HashiMashi is a set of habits that you build into your life which will help you to transform your mind and body over the course of time.
HashiMashi can even help you change your life, but it is always up to you.
This is the simplest prescription of HashiMashi:
1. Eat Real Food – The real food (as opposed to processed) is going to nourish your body and your brain and help you to continue to think and focus on more thoughts of power that are beneficial to you.
Flip the script of the narrative in your mind that says your life sucks to the one that says your life is an amazing adventure and you are grateful for everything that you have.
2. Move your Body – Exercise is going to help you strengthen not only your muscles, but your mind as well.
Exercise has been proven in many studies to be as effective as medications to relieve depression.
The strength training exercises that I recommend are what are called compound full body exercises such as:
3. Deadlifts
4. Squats
5. Pushups
6. Walking
7. Resting one day a week from everything and make sure that you connect with your family and/or friends.
If these words on how to stop depression have helped you or anyone else, please let me know or comment here.
If only one person will benefit from the ideas of Zehhu and Hashi Mashi, then all the time that I have spent here has been worthwhile.
I am neither a writer, a nutritionist or psychologist, I am just a person who knows how much you can change your life for the better by taking the right actions, holding the right thoughts in your mind and using the right words to express yourself to you and others.
If you are depressed and want to know how to stop depression, give Zehhu a try today with a shout, a scream, a word of power that will stop your sulking, stop your moping, stop your isolating and stop your depression from sinking further that it is already and once you have done that, start on a path to build a better mind and body.
Whichever path it is, HashiMashi or something else, choose something, start to build new habits that will help you to get fit in mind and body.
This is how to stop depression and start living.
Good Luck!
