How to Lose Belly Fat Fast

Top Ten Ways to Trim your Waist

What are the Top Ten ways to slim down fast?

I was thinking about it today while riding up 3rd avenue on the M103.

This morning I wrote a post about losing weight.

But that is not the whole story I believe for most people.

You do not, at least I do not want to lose weight and remain with the same shape.

We really want to transform our body from being out of shape and puffy to lean and trim.

The only way to do that is to shrink the waist.

We have to lose weight in order to fit into the pants and clothing that we see on the mannequins in Banana Republic.

It is not necessary to lose belly fat fast, but sometimes, you feel you must.

Whether for health or because you have a reunion or wedding coming up, sometimes your own!

Based on my experiences over the last year, I started to put together a list in my mind of what have been the most effective strategies for losing belly fat fast.

For total transparency, the image on this post is of myself comparing before Hashi Mashi to March 29, 2013.

Yes, it is not too long ago and I am putting it up for myself to inspire myself as well.

I will be putting up new pictures soon in any case once I get down to 180.

In the meantime, do not ever give up!

You should be forewarned that if you do lose a lot of belly fat, you still might have some extra skin left there, so do not freak out, the skin can only stretch so much when you are obese, you cannot expect it to totally tighten up.

But we will do our best to cover that as well in the future.

In the meantime, here are the top ten ways to lose belly fat fast:

1. Squats – Surprised?

You thought I was going to say to restrict calories, eat grapefruits only, fast?

You thought perhaps I would say to stop eating bread?

The truth is that I think that is a close call, but the fact is that you can see many athletes who are shredded, consume tons of calories, including bread, and still have no belly fat.

My experience has been that when I have been doing squats, I could practically feel my entire body becoming more toned and stronger.

After doing squats for just a week or two, which is only four to six sessions of 5 sets of 5 reps, with relatively light weight, between 45lbs and 125lbs, I can see the effects almost immediately.

I believe that squats are your number one friend to start on the path of losing belly fat fast.

If you cannot yet use a bar, just do air squats, with no weight, in your room.

Go for five, go for ten and build up from there.

Squats will work all the muscles of your body, especially your legs and glutes and yes, even your abdominals.

2. Return the Breadbasket – You go out to eat.

You are paying for dinner.

You deserve to have the best food for the price.

Your host places some hot bread on the table, with butter, olive oil and garlic.

Yes, I know how tempting that is.

I am getting a bit hungry even describing the scene, but there is no question, that unless you are an elite athlete, once you have some of that bread, you will trigger a cascading series of events that will definitely oppose the shedding of belly fat.

Now, I am speaking in general.

During the week, get off of bread.

Out of seven days, stay off of the bread for at least six days.

Even on the seventh day I prefer that you have no bread at all for the fastest results, but if you must, for example you have to be at a wedding or another type of social event, fine, have some bread, whatever you want.

For the most part though, stay off of bread and watch your abs start to appear.

3. Forget the Rice, white or brown – I know, alot of cultures stay very slim on rice, much slimmer than us, here in the United States.

I think that there are several explanations, mainly being that even with their rice, the rest of their meals are fairly unprocessed.

They eat rice, some vegetables and some fish, chicken , pork or beef.

That is it.

They do not follow up the meal with pretzels, potato chips, apple pie, snickers, pepperidge farm cookies and carvel ice cream, and then wonder, how on earth did I get so fat?

If you can control and only have a half cup or cup of rice, go ahead, but I would save that as well for your social day or social meal of the week.

My experience has been that just as rice doubles or quadruples in size in the pot when being soaked, it sure seems to do the same inside!

4. Stop the Potatoes and Pasta – That should be enough for telling you what not to do.

If you must have a potato, go for the sweet or the yams which are lower on the glycemic index.

Otherwise, just stop it, okay?

You want a six pack?

You have been eating anything and everything for most of your life.

Your body will change, guaranteed, but you do need some time to give your body a rest, just have very nourishing simple foods and just watch how your flab starts to melt away, no kidding!

5. Deadlifts – Next to squats, I think that deadlifts are the most powerful full body exercise to do in order to really change your physique.

I love pushups, but I do not feel the whole body effect from pushups, mostly chest and arms, but not everywhere, where as with deadlifts, as with squats, you can feel it everywhere.

Try it out, go easy and if you cannot , do not worry.

You can always do number 6 no matter where you are.

6. Walk! – How about walking 30 minutes a day?

That is not too hard is it?

I know that we are sitting at our desks and in our offices or lounging and watching dancing with the stars, but we can certainly get outside to walk under the stars, even if it is a stroll.

Just get moving!

7. Eat vegetables – pretty self explanatory, and I do not mean deep fried potatoes.

Spinach, cauliflower, broccoli, onion, garlic, mushroom, eggplant, tomato, raw or lightly sauteed.

You know the drill.

If it is dripping in grease, do not eat it, hello?!

8. Berries – Have lots of berries, learn to love them, they are loving you back!

9. Apple – Yes, an apple a day is a great snack.

10. Last but not least, have lean protein, whether it is chicken, tofu, turkey, beef, eggs, veggie protein. Did I say Pastrami?

No! Did I say to have a Pastrami on Rye with your son on his birthday?

YES!

So, use your good judgement.

Once a year, have the juiciest pastrami on rye with your son or daughter or wife to celebrate life, but please do not do that every day and expect to have a six pack!

For a change, Have a protein shake if you are craving a dessert or milkshake type of experience.

I like mine with almond milk or water, a scoop of protein powder, some berries, ice, flax oil and a tablespoon of peanut butter.

And there you have it, ten easy tips for losing belly fat fast, transforming your body and your mind.

Please let me know how it works if you decide to try out any of these ideas.
