Today is my Rocky moment, sort of! As I have mentioned before in other posts about pushups, the routine I follow is one day for the maximum number that I can do and the following two days with one day in between for rest, I do 5 sets , currently my high point start for the first of those sets was 46 last week.
So, today was my max day for pushups, wow, even I cannot believe it. Tomorrow on December 11th I will be upping the age number by a year. Whoa! But now the good news is that today before I did my max pushups, knowing that last week I had done 52, I was shooting for 52.5 or 53, because by the time I am up to 50, it is a struggle.
I got through the first 30 pretty good and even till 40 was moving along pretty steadily, by the time I hit 45, I was feeling that wall approach where my arms were getting very heavy, but I felt I had enough left to get up to 50 for sure, and once I hit 50, I went for 53 but did not collapse right then and there so pushed it out till 55! And I am going to leave it there for today because I did bench press only a couple of days ago so I think I can use more rest till Wednesday, and then maybe on Wednesday shoot for 47, 37, 37, 37 and 42.
So that is some spontaneous news, I did not expect to reach 55 pushups in one shot, glad I did, and at least this birthday coming up I will be in much better shape than when I took my before picture up above!
