How to get in shape in a week and keep on going till you reach your goal

How to Get in Shape in a Week Without Starvation

Keep it Simple to start your journey to a fitter life

How to get in shape in a week is a question that several hundred people ask themselves every month.

Yes, I know that from Google!

Over the last year, the average number of users who had this same question is 320 per month.

Close to 4,000 people every year ask how to get in shape in a week.

You are likely one of them and I am glad you are here.

I hope that I can be of help.

First off, the answer to the question depends on where you are starting from.

If you are currently 100 pounds overweight like I was back in 2011, you cannot get in shape in a week.

Even in a month.

Don’t think of trying a starvation diet.

I have done it and always ultimately failed.

If you are 5 to 10 pounds overweight, you can definitely make inroads in a week.

So, it depends where you are starting.

Where are you starting?

Even if you are 50, 75 or 100 pounds overweight now, you can make big changes in 6 months.

I think the safest plan for those who are overweight or obese, is to think long term.

You do not want to go on a diet for a week to look great at a wedding and then end up gaining it all back.

That is not good for your body or your mind.

You end up losing muscle and getting fatter when you pack on more pounds after suffering for a week.

No.

What if you only have a week to lose weight?

If the magic date has snuck up on you and you only have a week and you are 20 or 30 pounds overweight.

If you follow The Fit Apprentice Diet for a week, you will look and feel better.

But, truth be told, you will not and should not attempt to lose 20 pounds or even 10 pounds in a week.

And you need to hear that.

Don’t listen to any snake oil salespeople that want to sell you a weight loss of more than 2 – 3 pounds max per week.

You will easily and comfortably lose the weight you want over a longer period of time.

Six months is long enough to lose 60 pounds without suffering.

I know, back in 2012, between June 21, 2012 and December 11, 2012, I took off 75 pounds.

Over another four months, the weight loss slowed down till I hit my goal weight.

We know that after many years of reckless eating, we cannot expect to take off the fat in a week.

Unfortunately, when that event or time comes up that we wish we did not have so many snicker bars, it is too late.

If you eat clean for a week, you will still gain many benefits.

My experience has been that even a week of clean eating makes a visible difference to you as well as others.

And you will be on your way to finally getting into the shape that you want to be.

Are You Willing to Change?

Are you willing to make some short term sacrifices, for some long term benefits?

We will keep this as simple as possible.

Cut out as much processed junk food that you usually have as you can.

And eat as much real food as possible.

What would that look like?

Concentrate on vegetables as your base, as much greens, such as spinach, broccoli, cauliflower, asparagus, tomato, whatever you like.

It is easy.

Breakfast

For example, at breakfast, instead of 2 slices of processed bread with butter and jelly and eggs, sauté garlic, spinach and tomato, add a few egg whites, add some avocado and a little hummus on the side and presto, you have a meal loaded with vegetables, some protein, healthy fat with some slow burning carbohydrates (the hummus, made out of chickpeas) and good flavor.

If you are a die hard sandwich guy, then take 2 slices of whole grain/multi-grain bread, add 3 hard boiled egg whites, and load up the vegetables, like spinach, tomato and avocado, and there you have a simple meal.

In the sandwich case though, you can spread a little hummus if you want, but you do not need it.

Snack

After two to three hours, have a fruit and some nuts or a meal replacement/protein shake.

Lunch

Then, you can do the same for lunch.

Open a can of tuna, chop up celery, tomato, onion, cube a whole avocado and add some smart balance mayonnaise and you have a fast lunch.

You can eat this with or without bread, or you can use a whole grain wrap.

Or instead of tuna, have turkey breast.

If you are vegetarian or vegan, use tofu or a meat substitute like chickpeas or a veggie burger.

You can also get a can of black beans or have some black bean soup, add onion, spinach, tomato and you have another quick meal.

It beats a slice of pizza or mac and cheese.

Snack

Wait another two to three hours and have another snack.

A meal does not have to mean a thanksgiving style meal.

And a meal does not mean that you eat so much that you are stuffed to the gills.

A snack can be an organic yogurt, a handful of berries and an ounce of nuts.

Or have dairy free yogurt.

A snack can also be a slice of whole grain with peanut butter and fresh strawberries.

You might think that you are suddenly eating all day.

Not really, you are just eating throughout the day, fueling your body and mind as best as possible.

Dinner

Dinner is simple.

Have a starchy carb like potato, sweet potato, kasha, quinoa or rice.

Get some lean protein in there like fish, chicken, tofu or eggs.

Yes, you can have eggs at night, why not?

Saute a vegetable, spinach and garlic, bok choy, asparagus, cauliflower or broccoli.

Cooking for yourself will take a bit of time, but not much.

Try to finish dinner by 7.

Get to sleep around 10 and do it again.

The Cardinal Rule

Eat real food and will soon see the real you, your real shape.

Not the bloated fat shape that many of us have all suffered with for too many years.

And yes, the picture above is of the processed me.

The before was in June of 2012 and the after, 75 pounds later, in December of 2012.

By April, 2013, I was down another 20 pounds or so.

Even my the shape, appearance of my face changed.

And that is at the age of 56, so clearly, fuel your body well, and it will show.

I tried Diet and Exercise to Help Depression and instead Discovered How to Lose Weight Fast for Men. Ben Isaac after 10 months on the Hashi Mashi Plan.

True, I do miss those Oreos, snickers and Ben & Jerry’s.

But on the other hand, I do not.

I am grateful that I discovered real food can dramatically change your body, mind and life.

So, the question is not how to get in shape in a week.

The question is how to get in shape for life.

Keep it simple, eat real food, get in shape for life!
