What Body Fat Percentage Should I Be + How to Lower

Body Fat Percentage Goals

I did not expect to see any weight loss after the first day.

That is because by the end of the day yesterday, close to midnight, I was just curious what I weighed after having five meals and alot of water, definitely more water than I would usually drink in a day, I had at least 2 quarts, not the proverbial gallon, but half that which is alot for me.

And I was 199.8lbs last night.

Ten hours later I just did a sanity check and 195.9 with 22.9% bodyfat.

The scale is in the same place, and did the weighing at the same time of day which  is 10am.

Losing Body Fat is the Goal

What that tells me is that the weight increase I was seeing was mainly water weight.

It also told me that the foods which I had yesterday, were actually helping me to burn body fat. I can tell you that I was not starving or hungry throughout the day.

In fact, I had to be mindful to make sure that I had each of the meals, and I only made it to five, not to six.

If this trend continued, of losing .2 , 2/10 of a percentage of bodyfat every day, that would equal 1% every five days and approximately 6% in one month and 12% in two months.

If that was the case, by mid December, I would be close to my goal of 10% bodyfat.

Is a Body Fat Percentage of 10% Even Possible?

That sounds unreal to me because I do not believe I was ever 10% body fat in my life, I have always been chubby, stocky and most often called husky.

But, the good news is that we see very positive results.

I will be posting more pictures of each meal that I have so that if you want to get some ideas for yourself, please do.

That is the whole point of this exercise, to help everyone out there that wants to get a flat stomach, reduce their body fat, find their six pack, do it.

It is not rocket science and it is time to prove that.

There is no single ideal percentage of body fat for everyone.

Levels of body fat are epidemiologically dependent on sex and age.

Ideal Body Fat Percentages

Different authorities have developed different recommendations for ideal body fat percentages.

Essential fat is the level below which physical and physiological health would be negatively affected.

Controversy exists as to whether a particular body fat percentage is better for one’s health; athletic performance may also be affected.

The leanest athletes typically compete at levels of about 6–13% for men or 14–20% for women.

Bodybuilders may compete at ranges even lower than these levels.

You can see that women must maintain higher body fat percentages, approximately 8% more bodyfat for their essential fat.

My goal of 10% would put me in the range for the normal body fat percentage of an athlete.

That sounds just right!

I also want to help move things along, so I am going to get in some squats today.

I am more focused on body fat percentage than weight, because that is a better indicator of fitness and health than weight is.

What is your body fat percentage?

What is your age and body fat percentage?

How long do you think it will take to go from average to athlete body fat percentage?
